Is It Okay That I’m Searching For More Truth?

Mumma I know 2020 was rough and it seems 2021 isn't off to a great start for some either. A question I've been getting lately is - "I'm a Christian but I don't feel like things are right in the world and I'm searching for more truth than what I see on the news, is this okay?" In this episode, I share my personal perspective and the bible verse that encourages me as a reminder in these situations. Discover why it's so important to have discernment, especially now.

Hey there, mama. Welcome back to another episode of the Wholesome Mumma show. I just have a quick episode for you today, but it's something that's been on my heart for a while to talk to you about, but I just haven't found the right words or not sure how to come about it. And that is answering the questions that I've been getting around. What's going on in the world with 2020 and now 2021 seems to be just going down the same track. And so I wanted to come with a thought based on a verse that I found I didn't find during the year, last year, but a verse that became really real to me last year. And that's Romans 12 two, and you might know it as don't be conformed, but be transformed. But I want to read it to you in the passion translation.

And it says, stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy spirit, through a total reformation of how you are thinking. This will empower you to discern God's will, as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. Now, while the point of this is not to live a perfect life, the point is to not be so caught up in imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around us. So as a woman of faith, you maybe have heard, I certainly heard how we are in the world, but not of the world. And this first comes to mind with that. And as a believer, we're not meant to fit in the world. We're not meant to look like everybody else. We're not meant to think like everybody else. We're not meant to see like everybody else because we have the Holy spirit, right?

So we, we have to be different. We have to be light. We have to be truth. And so my thing is when it comes to everything that's going on in the world right now, and anything at any time, we really need to put on our spiritual armour and pray and use discernment and pray for more discernment and wisdom and strength, okay. To be questioning what is truth. There has certainly been things for my husband and I over the last 12 months that we have had to relook at and rethink. And I'm not going to go into the specifics of what we believe or things like that. But I guess a big obvious one is where we are getting our information from. Are we only getting it from mainstream media and believing anything that we see on the news or anything that we see on the internet?

Or should we be looking deeper? So things like that, don't, it's okay to question what is truth. And I think that's where it's so beneficial for us as women of faith, that we can be transformed from the inside out by the Holy spirit. So we do have that discernment so we can be empowered to think differently and look at like, and look at the things that are happening around us with Holy spirit eyes and see what is the truth? What is God's willingness and pray, God, would you show me what your will is? Would you reveal what is happening here? And here's your father as your heavenly father is not going to say no fend for yourself. And I think that these are just really important times for the church and for women and particularly for mothers as the nurturers of the home, to be praying and to be discerning, to be looking for more empowerment and more truth and more wisdom about many things and hearing the voice and being able to hear God's voice about what his will feel life and for your family is in this situation.

It seems to me that many Christians, these days are trying to fit in with the world and have totally forgotten that we're meant to be different. We're not meant to be as the world is. And I think that that's really sad and a bit of a lost beauty of our faith at the moment, because I see a lot of fellow Christians tearing down Christians that are questioning things that are praying and using discernment and trying to figure out what, what is God saying in this moment? And they're being tear down for not just doing as they're told or not just believing what they see on the news. And, and I think that that's where we're getting it extremely wrong. And that's where we need to use the prayer and discernment. And remember that we are here to be different. We are here to be light to the world.

The world is dark. The world is broken. The world is hurting. We are here to be the light to be, to bring God's truth, to bring God's healing. We are here to be his hands and feet. So we are not of the world, we're in the world, but we're not of the world. And I think if you can believe this in your soul, it's actually really empowering to know, okay, that's why this hasn't been sitting. Right. And you can use interchangeable words for discerning. You can use instinct or gut or discernment is just on a deeper level when it's your spirit, because you have the Holy spirit inside of you telling you that something is not right. So my encouragement for you today is that it's okay if you were sitting there not knowing what to do, not knowing what to believe, not knowing where to go.

It's okay, mama. It's okay to be questioning things. It's okay to be wanting more information. It's okay to be wanting to look at things on a deeper level. And I encourage you exactly to do that. My thing is I have to answer for and take accountability for my life. Not anybody else's. So I look at this situation as, okay, God, what I need to let go of the expectations of the world of anybody else. Okay. Go, what, what is your truth in this situation? And how do I need to bring that and apply that to my family? Because they're the ones that I am responsible for. They're the ones that I have to answer to as to how we raised them in what we did. And I think that this is such a pivotal moment where we really are going to be set apart. So mama, if you are feeling alone, if you're feeling lost and confused, just know that you are not the only one who is in that boat at the moment, that there's lots of noise.

There's lots of things coming at us, left front and centre. And if it's actually causing you too much stress and turn off the news, turn off social media, unfollow people. If you need to and create more boundaries in your life, around where you're getting that information from, I would just encourage you to go to what you know is true. And that's God's word, keep praying for more wisdom, more discernment for God to speak to you. And I know that he will remember that you are a lot, you are a beautiful lot radiating glory, so don't try and dim your light just to try and fit in and do what the world wants. Let your light shine.
